Valerio Ventura is a multi-award-winning writer, artist, and animation art director whose work spans film, television, publishing, and illustration. A recipient of the 2014 Primetime Emmy Award for Individual Achievement as a designer for Walt Disney Studios, Ventura has spent more than thirty years in the film industry, developing a visual language shaped by cinema, crime, horror, and dark humor.

Born in Rome, Italy, Ventura grew up near the legendary Cinecittà Film Studios, surrounded by the influence of Italian cinema, horror, and the larger-than-life storytelling of filmmakers like Federico Fellini, Sergio Leone, and Dario Argento. After moving to California and becoming a U.S. citizen, he built a career art directing animated shows, writing and directing television commercials and music videos, and eventually publishing his own books.
His debut novel, KILLHER, introduced his hard-edged style: razor-sharp action, hyperviolence, cinematic pacing, and dark comedy. He later expanded his universe with PALE WITCH, a horror novella co-authored with G.A. Lawrence, blending local history, terrifying villains, and relentless time-travel intrigue.
With AZIMUTH, Ventura moved deeper into science-fiction horror, creating a mythos where human cruelty collides with alien resonance, cosmic danger, and haunting atmosphere. His novella NOVA: Hell in the Machine launched at the 2025 29 Palms Book Festival as a brutal cinematic sci-fi thriller-noir, fusing action, urban poetry, and dark humor across time and space.
His latest novel, RACE ME, turns toward noir thriller territory—a story of obsession, speed, moral collapse, and the violent collision between two damaged people and the lies they build to survive.
Across every medium, Ventura’s work is driven by atmosphere, intensity, and a love of stories that move fast, hit hard, and leave a mark.
